Health and Safety: Shaping the Future with Our Safety Culture

At BOTAŞ International (BIL), the health and safety of our employees constitute the foundation of all our operations. We are firmly committed to achieving sustainable excellence in occupational health and safety by adhering rigorously not only to national legislation but also to the international standards to which we are formally aligned.

TS EN ISO 45001 Certification and Safe Environment Goals

Within the framework of our TS EN ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety Management System certification, we adopt a risk-based thinking approach and place utmost priority on fostering safe and healthy working environments, drawing inspiration from internationally recognised best practices.

Life-Saving Rules and a Common Safety Language

At BIL, we embrace international best practices in industrial safety. Through the implementation of the Life-Saving Rules established by the International Association of Oil & Gas Producers (IOGP), we strengthen employee safety, reinforce awareness of necessary precautions against risks, and contribute to the development of a common safety language across the organisation.

Zero Harm Vision and Behavioural Safety Systems

With a vision centred on operational excellence and zero harm, we prioritise proactive and preventive risk management. We promote a culture of leadership, employee involvement, and continuous improvement.

Through systematic audits, behaviour-based safety observations, and training programmes implemented across all our sites, we ensure sustainable safety. A contractor H&S management system ensures compliance for subcontractor staff, promoting a shared safety culture across stakeholders.

Our BOSS (Behavioural Observation Safety System) promotes active engagement in H&S matters, while the SOC (Safety Observation Conversation) programme reinforces safe behaviours.

We also embrace an “Open Door” policy, encouraging staff to raise concerns about Health, Safety and Wellbeing (HS-W) with their managers freely and confidently.

Occupational Health Services and Psychosocial Support

We consider the protection of employee health a fundamental responsibility. Across all sites, occupational health services are delivered through an integrated approach.

  • 24/7 on-site medical units staffed by qualified professionals
  • 4x4 ambulances for emergency response
  • Psychosocial support programmes for mental and emotional wellbeing
These efforts support a safe, healthy, and sustainable working environment for long-term employee welfare.

Road Traffic Safety and ISO 39001

Drawing strength from our experience, we attach particular importance to road traffic safety. Through the Safe System Approach, we maintain our TS ISO 39001 Road Traffic Safety Management System certification.

This approach addresses safe roads, vehicles, users, speeds, and post-crash care, and helps us continuously improve our road safety performance for employees, contractors, stakeholders, and the general public.

Training and Competency Development

We regard the assessment and fulfilment of OHS competency needs as both a legal obligation and a strategic necessity for sustainable success.

  • Occupational health and safety training is delivered to all staff and contractors
  • Tailored to job-specific and site-specific risks
  • Conducted in full compliance with legal requirements
These practices are central to building a positive safety culture.
