The Emergency Response Unit aims to provide an effective, rapid, sustainable, and internationally standardized service. In this direction, it carries out educational and practical activities on risk and damage reduction, preparedness, response, and recovery, which are the main elements of the emergency management process.
Despite the accident prevention policy generally applied in our facilities and the established safety culture, Emergency Response Teams, which are specially trained and equipped, are ready 24/7 to minimize the effects of unavoidable accidents.
Emergency Response TeamsWithin BIL, there are internationally trained teams that carry out activities to identify potential emergencies and take preventive/limiting measures under the headings of firefighting, oil spill response, and search and rescue.
Fire Response TeamThe BIL fire response team is a professional and fully equipped team with advanced training certificates in Firefighting 1, Firefighting 2, and HazMat according to NFPA Standards (National Fire Protection Association) and provides services 24/7. The fire response team continuously prepares for possible fire interventions and rescue operations by conducting training and drills on a weekly, monthly, and annual basis.
Oil Spill Response TeamAlong the BTC crude oil pipeline, experienced teams and equipment with international certifications are ready to respond to possible oil spills at four different locations (Kars, Erzincan, Kayseri, Ceyhan).
Search and Rescue TeamThe BTC pipeline and pump stations pass through regions with harsh winter conditions. The search and rescue teams stationed at the stations support operational activities carried out in adverse weather conditions with snowmobiles and fully equipped rescue equipment during the winter period. The search and rescue team holds the relevant certificates of the Turkish Mountaineering Federation.
